Train services south of Stockholm disrupted after collision with excavator injures two

There are major disruptions to train services south of Stockholm on Thursday morning, the Swedish Transport Administration says.

There is a halt to train services between Stockholm and Flemingsberg after a train collided with an excavator during track work overnight. Two people were injured, one of them seriously, police say.

According to Trafikverket, the accident is causing extensive disruption to commuter, long-distance and regional train services.

Commuter trains are being replaced by buses between Älvsjö and Flemingsberg. Long-distance trains to and from Gothenburg, Malmö and Karlstad are taking a different route, resulting in longer journey times.

Regional trains on various routes south of Stockholm have been cancelled, and some services are being replaced by buses.

Trafikverket has not said when services are expected to resume. Travellers are advised to expect longer journey times.
