Pro-Russian hacker groups claim responsibility for attacks on refrigeration systems across Europe

Two pro-Russian hacker groups claim responsibility for attacks on refrigeration and freezing facilities in Europe, the Ansa news agency reports.

In a video posted on social media, the groups Noname057(16) and Z-Pentest claim responsibility for attacks on refrigeration systems that have affected several European countries, including Sweden.

According to the message, the hackers exploited the systems’ integration and “did not need to use malicious code”. They also claim to be able to access water supply systems, industrial plants and power plants.

On Monday night, problems were discovered at several food stores in Sweden. Refrigerators and freezers were heating up, and food had to be thrown away. The problems affected several Coop and ICA stores, as well as smaller businesses such as cafés and restaurants.
