Magdalena Andersson Rebukes Left Party Deputy Over Centre Party Remarks Amid Government Talks

S leader Magdalena Andersson criticizes V’s Ida Gabrielsson for speaking ill of the Centre Party. “You don’t speak that way about parties you want to cooperate with,” she writes on Instagram.

The reason Andersson is lashing out at V’s vice-chairman is a report in DN about Gabrielsson.

In the article, Gabrielsson speaks out about the Centre Party and its economic policy spokesperson, Martin Ådahl.

Gabrielsson says that she and the Centre Party have pushed to privatise the Swedish Public Employment Service and adds that “now there is none”.

That you can dump the entire Employment Service and then shrug your shoulders about it. That nonchalance, that arrogance, has to do with class, Gabrielsson tells DN.

“Fuck you”

She also tries to reproduce for DN the internal negotiating rhetoric used by party leader Nooshi Dadgostar towards the Centre Party in the ongoing process of forming a government.

The Centre Party members have themselves to blame. Now they have to swallow all the left-wing politics. They are seven percent suitable. We are 8.4 percent suitable, says Gabrielsson.

V is demanding in the government talks that it be allowed to join an S-led government, while the Centre Party refuses to support such a government.

The S leader does not think Gabrielsson is making a positive contribution to resolving the deadlock.

“If we are going to move forward, we need to build trust and confidence between parties and representatives who are not used to cooperating with each other. In this work, everyone needs to help each other,” Andersson writes on Instagram.

Lock in

She also writes: “The assessments and expressions used about the Centre Party and its representatives do not contribute to building trust and confidence - quite the opposite. You do not speak that way about parties you want to cooperate with.”

The DN article also describes how Gabrielsson and her 70-year-old father discuss at the kitchen table how best to soften the Centre Party’s opposition to the Left Party joining an S-led government.

Her father thinks Ådahl can be locked in a wood-fired sauna.

Get him in the corner, then he won't come out, and then 92 degrees!

Andersson is now urging the Left Party to show that it is serious about putting together a collaboration that leads to a new direction for Sweden.

The Centre Party’s party secretary, Hannes Hervieu, writes on Facebook that you can sit in a sauna and complain about the Left Party or rant about Centre Party members over a beer, but that forest owners who supply wood for the sauna and small-business owners who run the pub are also needed.

“They are the ones, among many others, who absolutely do not want to let the Left Party into the government,” Hervieu writes.
