Copenhagen police confirm the arrest:
"The police in the United Arab Emirates have, at our request, arrested a 30-year-old man for extradition to Denmark. He is suspected of having played a role in several cases involving attempted murder and weapons possession related to the current gang conflict", they write to TT.
According to SVT, the leader is allied with the internationally wanted Ismail Abdo from Uppsala.
Abdo also has a connection to an ongoing gang conflict in Denmark, which has resulted in several Swedish "child soldiers" traveling across the Öresund Bridge to commit serious crimes in the country, according to sources from several Swedish and Danish media outlets.
The Danish National Police, NSK, has previously confirmed that a conflict is ongoing in the country between the Danish gang Loyal to Familia and an unnamed criminal network.
However, NSK does not want to confirm the conflict's connection to Sweden.
The arrested 30-year-old is the leader of a gang that is rival to Loyal to Familia, according to SVT.
Abdo was previously highly placed in the so-called Foxtrot network and was close to the leader Rawa Majid (who also went by the name "Kurdish Fox"), but last year the two ended up on different sides in a violent conflict.
Corrected: An earlier version contained an incorrect statement about which gang the arrested person is the leader of.
