The poet Agnes Gerner receives the Sorescu Prize for 2024, announces the Romanian Cultural Institute, which awards the prize.
"For her poems where the deep connection between human and animal life is concretized and intertwined in a way that transcends the metaphorical, where the natural world, which we have both around us and within us, provides comfort and support for how we humans can relate to misery", writes the jury.
The prize of 40,000 kronor is named after the late poet, playwright, and author Marin Sorescu and will be awarded at the Book Fair in Gothenburg on September 27.
