Seven of the Swedish national swimmers who were supposed to compete in the Mare Nostrum swimming events in Monaco have been forced to withdraw. They have been struck down with food poisoning, reports Dagens Nyheter.

Among those affected are Olympic-bound Sara Junevik, Sofia Åstedt and Robin Hanson, according to DN. Star names such as Sarah Sjöström, Louise Hansson and Michelle Coleman were supposed to have avoided the infection.

For those affected who are still chasing a ticket to the Paris Olympics, it's not over yet. In just over two weeks, the EM will start in Serbia, with new chances to clear the qualification threshold.
