Football supporters of Saint-Etienne are not allowed to travel to Marseille for Saturday's away match at Stade Velodrome in the French top league.
The French Ministry of the Interior has issued a travel ban due to an obvious and "serious risk of confrontation" between the teams' supporters ahead of the rivalry match.
The authority writes in its decision that there is a history of clashes between the supporters and that police have previously been injured during their interventions.
Last year in March, Saint-Etienne supporters lay in ambush on a motorway and threw stones at a bus convoy with Marseille supporters.
