David Lodge has passed away, 89 years old, reports BBC News. The British author became known for his often satirical books such as "Snyggt jobbat" and "Paradiset tur och retur".
Lodge, born and raised in London, debuted in 1975 with "Changing places" and was awarded the Whitbread Prize in 1980 for "How far can you go?". He was nominated for the Booker Prize twice and was also chairman of the Booker Prize jury in 1989.
Several of Lodge's books were also filmed for TV. In the BBC's dramatization of "Snyggt jobbat" from 1989, the word "clitoris" was uttered for the first time during prime time on British TV, wrote The Times in 2018.
