The Red Cross has entered the Israeli Ofer prison, where the Palestinian prisoners have been locked up. A small group of right-wing activists has clashed with the police authorities outside the prison and is trying to block the road to prevent the Red Cross buses from passing, reports Haaretz.
72 of the prisoners will be taken to the West Bank, while 14 will be transported to East Jerusalem. According to the Israeli prison authorities, none of the prisoners will be released to Gaza or abroad.
On Sunday evening, Israeli settlers set fire to several houses and threw stones in several Palestinian villages on the West Bank. The events take place against the backdrop of the first round of Palestinian prisoners being released as part of the ceasefire agreement.
