Over 78 million people have already cast their vote in the American election. Of these, nearly 18 million are in the seven crucial swing states, according to statistics from the University of Florida, as The Wall Street Journal reports.
The most advance votes among the swing states have been cast in North Carolina, where a total of 4.5 million have already voted.
In states that report party identification, 37.8 percent of advance votes have been cast by Democrats, while Republicans have cast 36.1 percent of the votes so far – but the difference continues to decrease as more votes are counted.
Both the Trump and Harris campaigns have urged their voters to vote early.
In the last election in 2020 during the pandemic, a total of 101 million chose to vote early. That year, a total of 158 million people voted.
The US presidential election is being held on Tuesday.
