257 people have been confirmed dead in the landslide in southern Ethiopia on Monday, according to the UN's humanitarian organization Ocha, citing local authorities.
The death toll is expected to continue to rise to around 500, writes Ocha in a report.
Hundreds of people continue to search for survivors in the wet clay at the disaster site. Over 15,000 people affected need to be evacuated, according to the report.
The landslide occurred after heavy rainfall in a small community in a mountainous area.
