Postmuseum covers postal and stamp history, as well as how Sweden’s postal service works today. Its main exhibition, Post, follows almost 400 years of postal history. The museum’s timeline begins with Axel Oxenstierna founding Postverket in 1636.
Children can try Postis, a play exhibition where they sort, transport and deliver mail. Visit Stockholm says children can play post office there. The Treasury, or Skattkammaren, displays postal rarities including Mauritius stamps, a unique quarter sheet of four Skilling Banco stamps and franked letters. HEJ! explores communication by letter, digitally and in other ways.
The museum reopened in autumn 2024 after major renovations, according to Visit Stockholm. The venue’s website lists the AVI restaurant and digital exhibitions and other material to view from home, including a postal history timeline and selections from its mailbox and postcard collections. Visit Stockholm says the shop carries Sweden’s largest selection of stamps. Admission is free for visitors under 18. The website information available here gives no other ticket price or opening hours.

All in StockholmA little corner of Sweden
23 Oct to 30 Jan · Postmuseum
The Postal Museum's new exhibition Swedish stamps reflects the country we live in. In recent years alone, you'll find epatraktors, the king, peace symbols, suffrage fighters and many more motifs. Small pictures of Sweden that we then put on our letters, invitations, Christmas cards or small gifts we send to each other. But how are the motifs actually selected? What makes up the picture and how is a stamp designed? You'll find out in the exhibition A Little Corner of Sweden.
POST
23 Oct to 19 Oct · Postmuseum
With almost 400 objects in the postal history exhibition, POST welcomes visitors to an experiential and interactive exhibition that activates all the senses. Here you can follow the history of the post office from the 17th century until today. The exhibition highlights the hard work and both the people who made communication between people possible over five centuries and those who received mail. An exhibition for both adults and children.
