The Swedish History Museum tells Sweden’s history from the earliest times to the present. Its exhibitions use thousands of objects to tell stories of power struggles, love, everyday life and celebration. Visit Stockholm says the museum has gold and silver treasures, medieval art and the world’s largest collection of objects from the Viking age.
The museum says its collections hold more than ten million objects, and its one-hour highlights audio guide takes visitors through five exhibitions. The museum describes visits ranging from an hour to a full day. Families can take part in activities at the museum; admission is free for children and young people aged 0-18. Visitors can search the online History hub for articles and objects, then sort or filter results by time period and theme. The audio guide provides a route through five of the museum’s exhibitions, while the History hub offers a way to browse objects and articles by topic.
