Världens största vikingautställning at Historiska Museet asks what life in Scandinavia was like a thousand years ago. It challenges the familiar image of Vikings as violent, horned marauders. The exhibition covers more than 1,000 square metres and contains more than 2,500 original objects.

Visitors can explore digital, interactive environments and three-dimensional replicas, then use try-on stations designed for all the senses. The exhibition brings together objects to examine, digital settings to interact with and replicas to explore. Its central question is what is known about life in Scandinavia around a thousand years ago, with several ways to engage with the subject.

Historiska Museet is open every day except Mondays and has evening opening on Wednesdays. Today, Monday 2 November, the museum is closed under that schedule; Wednesday is the option for an evening visit. The museum’s Rosengården restaurant offers coffee or lunch in its courtyard, so visitors can add a café or meal stop to their visit.
