Nordiska museet covers life in the Nordic countries over 500 years. Its permanent exhibition, Nordbor, follows life through four seasons; the museum also lists Arktis and Tidsvalvet among its nine exhibitions. Displays include fashion and textiles, furniture and interiors, china and table settings, folk art, jewellery, photography, trends and traditions. A free audio guide can be downloaded to a smartphone, and the museum offers a digital visitor guide with more stories about objects and exhibitions.
The museum lists today’s opening hours as 10:00–17:00. Adult admission is 170 kr, and children’s admission ranges from free to 75 kr. Its visitor advice suggests allowing an hour or longer, with a separate suggestion for a fun hour or more for children. A restaurant is in the Great Hall, and Kafé Lusknäppen is in the back courtyard. The museum’s site also lists a family activity called “Mission: Beings”, in which children investigate traces of a creature that escaped from an archive.
