Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelenskyj dismisses the country's air force chief Mykola Oleshchuk after an American F-16 plane crashed on Monday, according to AFP.
In a statement, Zelenskyj says he has decided to replace the air force chief to "strengthen Ukraine's military leadership".
"It is necessary. We must strengthen ourselves and take care of our citizens", says the President according to Kyiv Independent.
Ukraine confirmed on Thursday that one of the American F-16 planes the country had access to had crashed and that the pilot was killed. The plane crashed during an operation against a Russian air raid.
