Worst grape harvest in a long time

It was an unusually poor harvest of Bordeaux wines last year. Frost and heavy rainfall contributed to reducing the harvest to the lowest in about 35 years, according to the local industry organization.

Another factor that reduced the harvest was government subsidies to encourage French winegrowers to hold back, with the aim of reducing the previous surplus.

The upside for grape growers: The wines are likely to increase in price.
