The Swedish Meteorological and Hydrological Institute (SMHI) has issued an orange warning for very strong winds on the mountainous regions of central and northern Lapland. The warning is valid until Friday evening. The wind in combination with heavy snowfall can cause very difficult weather conditions and it may, among other things, be difficult to navigate, writes SMHI on its website.
On Boxing Day, rain is expected in Västerbotten and Norrbotten, and since the roads are cold, a yellow warning has been issued for sudden ice slicks.
Further south in the country, it is mostly overcast, with fog or mist in some areas and local drizzle with plus degrees.
The cold seems to be returning just in time for New Year's, with colder air moving in over large parts of the country next week. In southern Sweden, it looks like it will be both snow, rain, and wind, but it is still unclear where the boundary between rain and snow will be.
