It is above all ballistic missiles, cruise missiles, hypersonic missiles, space-based imaging and drones, says Fredrik Pålsson, head of information and intelligence systems at FMV to SVT.

The first systems will be delivered during next year, and can then be operational in the near future.

We initiated the accelerated procurement about a year ago and now we have four contracts in place. We have probably saved at least three, four years in time, says Pålsson to the TV channel.

The radar system has five layers with different range. The new coastal radar with the shortest range is already in use – the upcoming radar systems with the longest range will be able to detect missiles and satellites at low altitude at a distance of about 200 miles.

The cost of the new surveillance system is secret, but according to FMV it is about "multi-billion amounts", writes SVT News.
