One of the two beaked whales that were rescued from shallow water off Åsa in Kungsbacka has been found dead. The whale was found washed up in Frillesås on Sunday afternoon, reports P4 Halland.
The body will be transported away and autopsied to examine why the beaked whale died.
It was on Friday that the two whales were discovered at a beach. The Coast Guard was able to help the animals out into deeper water.
According to experts at the Swedish Museum of Natural History, the whales are of the species Sowerby's beaked whale, which is rare in Swedish waters.
