British divers have found a wreck believed to be a warship from the First World War.
The ship was discovered in the North Sea off Scotland and is thought to be HMS Hawke, which sank after being hit by a German torpedo in October 1914. Despite over a hundred years on the seabed, the ship is considered to be in relatively good condition.
She is practically intact. It's incredible that she's in this condition, considering it's a 110-year-old wreck that met a violent fate, says Paul Downs, who is part of the diving group that has now documented the ship.
The diving group, which calls itself "Lost in Waters Deep", has been searching for the ship for over a year and is now awaiting confirmation from the British Navy that it is indeed HMS Hawke that has been located in the water.
HMS Hawke was 118 meters long and was launched in 1891. Over 500 people died when the ship sank.
