The Swedish Meteorological and Hydrological Institute (SMHI) has issued a yellow warning from midnight to Saturday. The warning applies until 12:00 for the northern Jämtland mountains and the southernmost Lapland mountains. Hard to very hard winds of 15 to 20 meters per second are expected there.

The warning, however, remains in effect until 03:00 on Sunday for the northern Härjedalen mountains and the southern and central Jämtland mountains. Even there, winds of 15 to 20 meters per second are possible, but at exposed peaks, the wind can reach storm strength of around 25 meters per second. The snowstorms are also expected to be persistent and intense.

If you are not an experienced mountain hiker, SMHI recommends canceling any mountain tours. It may be difficult to navigate due to reduced visibility, and it may be difficult to travel and anchor tents. There is also a risk of frostbite.
