The Swedish Meteorological and Hydrological Institute (SMHI) has issued a yellow warning for heavy rain and thunderstorms in large parts of southern and central Sweden on Sunday.
As early as tomorrow morning, we have a comprehensive rain area that will move in from the south over Skåne. The rain will then slowly move on to cover large parts of Götaland and southeastern Svealand by lunchtime, says Marie Staerk, meteorologist at SMHI.
It's a rain area with heavy rain showers and an increased risk of thunderstorms, primarily in southeastern Götaland and Öland. The bad weather is expected to reach Gotland in the evening.
In many places, large amounts of rain can be expected, with between 30 and 60 millimeters of rain, says Marie Staerk.
The yellow warning applies to the entire southern Sweden and eastern Svealand.
Just before 5 pm on Saturday, SMHI upgraded its yellow warning for the inland parts of Götaland to an orange warning. Up to 90 millimeters of rain is expected, which can lead to flooding.
In the northern parts of the country, scattered showers with sunshine can be expected on Sunday.
Three levels of weather warnings:
Yellow: Consequences for society, some risks for the general public.
Orange: Serious consequences for society, danger for the general public.
Red: Very serious consequences for society, great danger for the general public.
