Uppsala University is transferring the ownership of 84 Sami objects to Ájtte Swedish Mountain and Sami Museum.
The collection has been deposited at the museum since the 1990s and Uppsala University has requested permission to transfer the ownership to Ájtte, which has now been granted by the government.
The objects are no longer needed for education or research.
Ájtte and the Sami Parliament in Sweden decided in 2000 to work together to return Sami collections. Ájtte is also working to obtain a government mandate to manage the Sami cultural heritage.
