The UN's children's organization Unicef announces that Israel has agreed to restore energy to a desalination plant in southern Gaza. This could contribute to providing many people who have been forced to flee with the much-needed water.
When the plant in Khan Yunis is reconnected to electricity, it should be able to produce millions of liters of water per day at full capacity.
This is an important milestone and we look forward to seeing it implemented, says Jonathan Crickx, Unicef's spokesperson in the Palestinian areas.
Since the war broke out in Gaza nearly nine months ago, water has been a scarce commodity.
