The order intake in the USA for so-called durable goods – such as white goods, machines, and cars – unexpectedly rose in May, according to statistics from the country's commerce department.
The increase of 0.1 percent compared to the previous month can be compared to an average forecast of minus 0.5 percent. In April, the order intake of durable goods in the USA increased by 0.2 percent according to revised figures. Previously, the calculation was plus 0.6 percent in April.
The measurement includes all goods with a calculated lifespan of more than three years.
