The order intake in the German industry increased unexpectedly for the second month in a row in July, according to fresh figures from the statistics agency Destatis.
The increase was 2.9 percent compared to the previous month, which can be compared to an average forecast among analysts of a decline of 1.7 percent.
At the same time, Destatis is raising its estimate of the order intake in June to an increase of 4.6 percent, compared to 3.9 percent previously.
