The British-Norwegian package, worth 450 million pounds – 5.7 billion kronor – was formally announced at Friday's meeting of the so-called Contact Group for Ukraine's Defense (Ramstein Group) in Brussels.
We cannot jeopardize peace by forgetting the war. This extra support today will strengthen the Ukrainian forces in their struggle, strengthen our industrial cooperation with Ukraine, and strengthen British companies, says Britain's Defense Minister John Healey.
Electro-magnetic
The package includes funds for the repair and maintenance of equipment that Britain has already sent to Ukraine, as well as funds for radar systems, tank mines, and "hundreds of thousands of drones" from both British and Ukrainian manufacturers.
Friday's Ramstein meeting was jointly led by Healey and his German counterpart Boris Pistorius.
Pistorius and Germany are also leading another support coalition for Ukraine – this time for what is called electro-magnetic warfare.
This is about maintaining Ukraine's communication capabilities, reconnaissance, and disrupting enemy communication, countermeasures against drones and navigation systems, says Pistorius at the press conference after the meeting.
Hegseth on the line
US Defense Minister Pete Hegseth participated digitally with "some interesting and correct remarks about what Europeans have done since the war began", says Pistorius.
He doesn't go into details about what this means – but he emphasizes that the important thing now is for Europe to take a greater share of the burden.
We take on more responsibility as Europeans and do what we can to support Ukraine as long as it is needed. This day was quite an impressive proof of what we want and can do, says the German Defense Minister in Brussels.
