Two Swedish directors have a chance at the European Film Awards

Levan Akins' "Passage" and Magnus von Horn's "The Girl with the Needle" are two of the films that have a chance to be nominated for this year's European Film Awards, according to Variety.

The European Film Academy has just presented the first films competing to be nominated for the award ceremony in Lucerne, Switzerland on December 7. Among the 29 first selected are the Swedes Levan Akin's "Passage" and Magnus von Horn's "The Girl with the Needle".

But Akin and von Horn have many renowned competitors from this year's festivals, such as the Norwegian "Armand" by Halfdan Ullman Töndal, "Emilia Perez" by Jacques Audiard, "The Substance" by Coralie Fargeat, "Kinds of Kindness" by Yorgos Lanthimos and "The Seed of the Sacred Fig" by Mohammad Rasoulof.

Further titles will be announced at the end of September.
