Florida Senator Marco Rubio, son of Cuban immigrants, has been a frequently mentioned name in speculations about taking on a major role in Trump's government.
"He will be a strong advocate for our nation, a true friend to our allies and a fearless warrior who will never back down to our opponents," says Trump about Rubio in a statement.
Rubio has previously pushed for a tougher stance on China and targeted the social media app Tiktok because its parent company is Chinese.
The 53-year-old Marco Rubio began his political career in the 1990s and is now one of the most well-known Republican politicians, but was previously one of Trump's critics.
Belongs to the right-wing faction
For the post of Attorney General, Trump wants to see Florida Republican Matt Gaetz.
He will work to "restore Americans' confidence in the Justice Department, protect the country's borders, and dismantle criminal organizations," says Trump in a statement.
Gaetz is described as belonging to the right-wing faction within the Republicans. He has long advocated for cutting off aid to Ukraine and has rejected all cross-party collaborations.
In 2021, he was investigated by the Justice Department, accused of having had a sexual relationship with a minor and of having paid for her travel across state borders. He denied the allegations and no charges were filed.
Former Democrat nominated
At the same time, Trump says he plans to appoint former Democrat Tulsi Gabbard to the post of National Intelligence Director.
"I know that Tulsi will bring forward the fearless spirit that has defined her brilliant career to our intelligence service, defend our constitutional rights, and secure peace through strength. Tulsi will make us all proud!”, says Trump in a statement.
Gabbard ran for the Democratic presidential nomination in 2020. She left the party in 2022 and has since worked, among other things, for the conservative TV channel Fox News.
