The Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump gives unclear answers about a potential debate with the Democrats' Kamala Harris. He says that he will probably debate against her, but that he can also imagine abstaining.
I want to have a debate. But I can also say this. Everyone knows who I am. And now people know who she is, said Trump in an interview with Fox News that was broadcast on Tuesday night.
After being asked repeatedly, Trump finally said:
The answer is yes, it will probably end with me debating.
He added later:
But I can also argue for not doing it.
Trump had previously been more eager to debate against Joe Biden and had accepted a second confrontation with the president on September 10.
But after Biden dropped out of his re-election campaign and handed it over to Kamala Harris, Trump has questioned the terms of the debate and suggested that it should not be broadcast by ABC News, which he claims stands for "fake news".
