The disruptions occurred on Friday evening and by 21.30 on Saturday, they are still not resolved.
Many users are still experiencing problems, as shown by the website Downdetector, and Playstation has messages on its website and social media that work is underway to resolve the issues.
At the same time, user frustration is palpable.
I imagine there are thousands – if not millions – of gamers around the world and in the UK who are quite frustrated that they can't play right now, said a user earlier on Saturday to BBC.
