A train accident earlier in the week has caused major problems for the Port of Gothenburg.
The accident occurred on Wednesday, when a freight train lost parts of its cargo at Marieholmsbron, reports Gothenburg Post.
Among other things, about 200 meters of rail were damaged, which has reduced traffic to and from the port.
By Thursday evening, 40-50 trains with a total of 500 containers had been cancelled.
There has been a major traffic disruption and train traffic has a reduced capacity of about 70 percent, says Carl-Johan Andersson, at the Port of Gothenburg, to GP.
According to the prognosis, traffic is expected to be back to normal by Monday morning at the latest.
Even passenger trains from Gothenburg to Ytterby/Stenungsund are severely affected.
I think it will have a significant impact over the weekend, says Bengt Olsson, press chief at the Swedish Transport Administration, to P4 Gothenburg.
