The placement gives Fredricson three World Cup points. With 24 points in total, it's a good way up to ensure the Swede finishes top 18 in the Western European league that gets to jump the final.
Only the competition in Gothenburg (19-23 February) remains, and it's not even certain that a win there will be enough. A first place gives 20 points, but Peder Fredricson is currently 29th in the total and has 11 points up to the Irishman Denis Lynch in 18th place.
Erika Lickhammer-van Helmand on the mare Comme Tessa was extremely close to reaching the jump-off in Bordeaux, but the pair knocked down the last obstacle and finished 21st.
The Swiss Martin Fuchs on Conner Jei won the jump-off, where twelve pairs made it.
Henrik von Eckermann is directly qualified for the final in Basel, Switzerland, 2-6 April after winning the World Cup final last year.
