Sjögren came to Hammarby last year after being an assistant in the allsvenska IFK Norrköping for a season and previously the national team captain for Norway's women's football between 2017 and 2022. With Sjögren at the helm, Hammarby came third last year and is currently second in the women's allsvenska.
According to ESPN, which was the first with the information, Sjögren will take over the NWSL team Chicago Stars in January. Chicago is currently the second to last, with only one win in 15 matches, in the American women's league NWSL with eleven matches left to play this season. The team is currently led by Ella Masar, who is a temporary solution after Lorne Donaldson was fired in April and the assistant coach Masaki Hemmi took over temporarily. He left Stars in July for another American women's team.
