A three-year-old girl who was subjected to a murder attempt in Norway last week has died from her injuries on Tuesday, the police announce.
During the night leading up to Thursday last week, her 30-year-old mother was murdered in a residence in Gjerdrum. The police suspect that she was strangled to death.
At the same time, the three-year-old girl sustained life-threatening injuries.
"The three-year-old girl has been hospitalized at Ullevål and later Rikshospitalet with severe injuries since Thursday. The investigation, the injuries, and the treatment indicate that the girl was also subjected to strangulation", the police wrote on Tuesday.
The woman's husband, who is also the girl's father, was arrested on Friday for four weeks, suspected of murder and attempted murder. Now the suspicion has been changed to murder of both the woman and the child.
The now-arrested man has confessed and alerted the police himself.
