Three men have been detained in Helsinki suspected of terrorist crimes, according to the Central Criminal Police in Finland.

The police confirm to Hufvudstadsbladet that the three are suspected of having participated in the terrorist group IS's activities.

It has not emerged that the trio, who were arrested last week, would have prepared a terrorist attack against Finland. The crimes are said to have taken place between January 1 last year and June 10 this year in Helsinki, according to court documents.

The police are tight-lipped about what the men are suspected of having done. The Security Police, Finland's equivalent to Säpo, has been involved. The police are also cooperating internationally on the case.

The crime classification is unusual in Finland, writes HBL.
