Third in a row for Åhman and Hellvig – won the group

Rain and wind in Rio de Janeiro.

But David Åhman and Jonatan Hellvig got the beach volleyball crowd to thrive.

Olympic Games gold medalists offered a tight match against the Norwegians Mathias Berntsen and Hendrik Mol – and won with 2–0.

The duo took the first set with 21–19 and had to struggle much more in the second, when they were behind, fought their way back and finally won with 27–25.

With the victory, the Swedes won their group in the World Championship tournament in Brazil.

Åhman and Hellvig, who won Olympic Games gold in Paris, made their competition comeback on the World Tour a few weeks ago and finished third in João Pessoa, Brazil.

It was their twelfth consecutive podium finish in World Tour and championship contexts.
