Charlie Lindh is ranked 801st in the world rankings, and far from the world elite.

But now the golf sensation is clear for his first major – British Open at the classic Royal Troon.

During one of the last qualifying tournaments for the men's golf final major of the season, there was a Swedish success that was good enough. After the two rounds, the Swedish golfer Charlie Lindh was tied for third place along with LIV players Anirban Lahiri and Abraham Ancer.

The three went to a playoff for the two remaining spots in the main tournament in just over two weeks, and Lindh secured one of the two spots. After Anirban Lahiri only managed to make a bogey, while Ancer and Lindh made par, it was clear that the Swede had qualified for his first major in his career.

The Swede rolled in his short par putt, and can thus prepare himself for the overwhelmingly largest tournament in his career – at the classic Royal Troon where Henrik Stenson won eight years ago.

Lindh plays his more everyday golf on various tours. This year, he has made five tournaments on the Asian Tour and six on the Challenge Tour (the tour below the European Tour), but without placing particularly high on the leaderboard. He is ranked 801st in the world.

Thus, six Swedes have qualified for the British Open, which begins on July 18: Ludvig Åberg, Henrik Stenson, Sebastian Söderberg, Alexander Björk, Vincent Norrman, and finally Charlie Lindh.
