The so-called Ramstein Group consists of over 50 countries that support Ukraine's defense in the Russian invasion war.
The US Department of Defense announces that Defense Minister Lloyd Austin is expected to lead the meeting, which is the 25th in order. Austin was behind the initiative to gather allies after the Russian full-scale invasion in February 2022.
Defense Minister Austin is focusing on creating practical and coordinated support that strengthens Ukraine's ability to defend itself now and avoid attacks in the future, said the Department of Defense's deputy spokesperson Sabrina Singh, according to the department's website.
Austin travels to Germany on January 7. According to Ukrainian media, the official part of the meeting will be held on January 9.
The meeting is likely to be Austin's last with the Ramstein Group as the US gets a new government when Donald Trump takes office as president.
Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelenskyj, in turn, said he hopes for support for the country's air defense against drones and Russian fighter jets.
