The President of the USA, Donald Trump, will urge his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin to end the war against Ukraine when the two meet on Friday in Alaska. This was stated by Trump at a press conference at the White House on Monday.
Directly after Friday's meeting, he will speak with Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelenskyj and other European leaders.
The next meeting will be between Zelenskyj and Putin, said Trump and added that he can also imagine being present if needed.
Trump said that as part of an agreement, land will be exchanged between Russia and Ukraine, something that will be discussed at Friday's meeting.
He also said that he is a bit "irritated" that Zelenskyj says it is against the country's constitution to hand over land.
Ukrainians will not give away their land to the occupant, said Volodymyr Zelenskyj in a recorded speech on Saturday.
