The 14-year-old Mohamed, who was kidnapped and murdered by men in the criminal network Foxtrot in the Stockholm area in the summer of 2023, was still alive when his mother raised the alarm.
It would have been possible to track his mobile phone to Gubbängen in Stockholm, where he was being held captive, but the police made no attempts to track the boy, reports Sveriges Radio P4 Jönköping.
The police did not make a report either when the mother appealed for help and chose not to make a missing person's report, reports the channel.
Mohamed was one of two 14-year-old boys who were murdered after they went missing from placements in HVB and family homes in Nyköping in July 2023.
Mohamed was found murdered in a woodland area in Landsfjärden outside Nynäshamn.
A little later that same summer, the 14-year-old Layth was also found murdered in a woodland area in Upplands-Bro.
