The police's message comes after a request to question the Norwegian crown princess, mother of accused Marius Borg Høiby.
Lawyer Petter J Grødem, who represents one of the women Borg Høiby is accused of committing a crime against, asked the police in November to hear Mette-Marit, referring to the fact that she may "sit on important information". Now the police have announced that this will not happen, says Grødem to Norwegian TV2.
What I can say is that I am surprised. Usually when we ask for a witness to be heard, it happens.
Marius Borg Høiby is Mette-Marit's son from a previous relationship. He has caused big headlines since he was arrested in August suspected of assaulting a woman he had a relationship with. Since then, the 27-year-old has been accused of several cases of violence in close relationships, as well as a number of other crimes.
Mette-Marit has not yet commented on the accusations against her son.
