The Defence Forces have sent out warnings to a number of residents near the F16 airbase north of Uppsala to stop drinking water from their wells, which P4 Uppland was the first to report on.

The Defence Forces have investigated 28 wells, and in four of them, they found levels of hormone-disrupting PFAS substances higher than the National Food Agency's limit values.

Don't drink this water, but make sure to buy water, and you can invoice the Defence Forces for it, says Therese Fagerstedt, press chief at the Defence Forces to Sveriges Radio.

Recently, the Land and Environment Court of Appeal found that PFAS substances from firefighting exercises at F16 end up in Uppsala's drinking water. The municipality has installed coal filters to purify the municipal water, reports Sveriges Radio.
