The proposal presented by the inquiry on behalf of the government on Monday concerns operations of hip joint prostheses, hernias and cataracts.
The reason is that many are waiting in line for these operations, while there is a significant difference between the regions. This indicates, according to the inquiry, that there is available capacity.
The Swedish Association of Local Authorities and Regions (SKR) is largely positive about the inquiry's proposal, but points out the risk of shifting focus to "clearing" easier cases.
This may, according to SKR, lead to sicker patient groups being pushed aside.
"The most important thing is that care is always provided based on need, that state one-time investments do not lead to the medical prioritization being disrupted," says Johan Kaarme, head of SKR's healthcare and social care division, in a press release.
