Gunilla Wold's children's books about Emma and Totte are being made into an animated film this summer. The premiere of "Emma & Totte: My First Friend" is on July 4. The film is inspired by the characters in Wold's books, with script and direction by Mia Fridthjof.
"With 'Emma & Totte: My First Friend', we have created a film that not only speaks to preschoolers, but also can entertain their older siblings and evoke warm memories in parents and grandparents who grew up with Emma & Totte", says Fridthjof in a press release.
The film is animated by Christian Kuntz.
The first books about Totte, "Totte Goes Out" and "Totte Takes a Bath", were published in 1969.
