Syria's interim president Ahmad al-Sharaa announces that an agreement has been reached with Kurdish groups in the country to integrate into the central government's rule in Damascus.

The opponent is the Kurdish forces SDF, which operates in the semi-autonomous northeastern part of the country. SDF has also been backed by the USA.

The Presidential Office publicly announced a statement on Monday signed by both parties, stating that "an integration of all civilian and military institutions in northeastern Syria will take place under the Syrian state administration".

Furthermore, the document stated that the declaration of intent also concerns an airport, border crossings, as well as oil and gas fields.

In return, Kurds in Syria are said to be granted the right to use their own language, as well as use it in education. This was prohibited under Bashar al-Assad's regime.
