Unemployment in both the EU and the eurozone remained unchanged at 6.0 and 6.4 percent, respectively, in May, according to fresh statistics from Eurostat. These are the same figures as in April and almost identical to the situation in May 2023.
Spain still has the highest unemployment rate at 11.7 percent, while Greece is slowly approaching the 10-percent mark – now at 10.6 percent.
Sweden and Finland, in turn, are fighting for third place in terms of the highest unemployment rate, where Sweden, according to Eurostat's method of calculation, stands at 8.4 percent compared to 8.2 for Finland.
