Swedish Trade rejects LO's initiative on part-time employees. Such an initiative would deteriorate entrepreneurs' opportunities to conduct their business, according to the trade organization.

Negotiation manager Ola Axelsson says in a written comment to TT that part-time employment in stores mainly depends on customers making their purchases during certain limited times and that there is a need for high staffing during those times.

"Increased costs for the employer would not change customers' purchasing behavior, but rather deteriorate the company's opportunities to conduct business and to employ people, full-time or part-time. This is not a regulation we want", Axelsson continues.
