This fall, police from Norway and Sweden have collaborated against cross-border crime in several border counties. The collaboration has now been discontinued, and Swedish police are no longer allowed to enter Norway, reports SVT Värmland.
Within the framework of the collaboration, Swedish and Norwegian police have operated freely across the border in Värmland, Dalarna, and the Norwegian neighboring county of Innlandet. The operation has been possible because the Norwegian police, due to the increased terror threat in Norway, have been armed.
The threat level in Norway has now been lowered, and the Norwegian police are patrolling unarmed again. This means that Swedish police, who are always armed, are no longer allowed to cross the border.
You get frustrated. We work together with the Norwegians, and this means that we are not allowed to be in Norway, says Joakim Kristiansen, group leader for the police on the Swedish side of the border, to SVT.
